KEY TAKEAWAYMailerLite Free allows 250 active subscribers and 2,500 emails per month. Learn why deleted subscribers may still count in a billing cycle, and how to plan sends.

The Free plan is capped at 250 active subscribers after the June 2026 update

MailerLite updated its Free plan on June 16, 2026. The subscriber cap moved from 500 to 250 active subscribers while access to several creation features was expanded.

MailerLite counts unique email addresses that held Active status at any time in a billing cycle. An address can still count toward the 250-subscriber allowance after you delete it, until that cycle resets. Unsubscribed and Bounced contacts do not normally count unless they were Active earlier in the same cycle. Do not assume deleting and replacing active subscribers immediately frees a slot.

Check your current-cycle subscriber count and next reset date under Account settings and Plan and billing before planning a launch or reducing a list. MailerLite documents cumulative subscriber counting and billing anniversaries in https://www.mailerlite.com/help/plan-and-billing.

2,500 emails per month: the reset follows your signup date

The MailerLite Free plan currently permits 2,500 monthly email sends. A newsletter sent to 200 people counts as 200 sends; messages from automations use the same allowance as campaigns.

According to MailerLite’s billing help, the sending limit for Free accounts resets monthly on the date the account was registered. It is not a fresh rolling 30-day allowance starting each time you send a newsletter. Check the reset date and remaining allowance in your account before scheduling.

Three automations and three forms can remain active

Free accounts can currently keep up to three automations and three signup forms or pop-ups active. Draft items do not count the same way until they are activated or published.

That is enough for a primary signup form and a few essential sequences, but it can become tight when several offers or audience segments run in parallel.

One landing page, one website and one digital product are included

MailerLite currently allows one active landing page, one website of up to five pages and one digital product on the Free plan. That makes it possible to test a small acquisition and monetization path without immediately buying a separate page builder.

The practical approach is to validate one offer or one conversion goal first instead of using the limit simply because the features are available.

Is MailerLite still free after the 14-day premium trial?

MailerLite offers an initial 14-day trial of selected premium features. If you do not purchase a paid plan, the account automatically returns to Free when the trial ends. The ongoing Free plan has no published expiry date and permits two users, subject to the ordinary subscriber, sending and feature limits.

The MailerLite Free-plan FAQ explicitly says that Free accounts are charged only if the owner manually chooses a paid upgrade. Some premium-only features and workflows using paid options will no longer be available after the trial. Check that your signup and welcome sequences use only free features before depending on them. Example: calculate your real monthly email allowance

For an illustrative list of 200 subscribers, two newsletters each week over four weeks use 200 × 2 × 4 = 1,600 sends. That leaves 900 sends for welcome sequences, other automations or additional campaigns during the same monthly cycle. This is a hypothetical calculation, not a tested campaign.

At 250 recipients, three newsletters each week across four weeks would use 3,000 sends. You could therefore exceed the email quota while remaining within the 250-active-subscriber limit. Count each recipient and every automation email instead of checking subscriber count alone.

What happens when a Free plan limit is exceeded?

MailerLite pauses campaign and automation sending when the 2,500-email allowance is exhausted; sending can resume when the allowance resets or after an upgrade. Going over the Free plan subscriber cap also pauses campaigns, automations and new subscriber additions (including via API or integrations). Because subscriber counting is cumulative within a billing cycle, simply deleting a recently active address may not restore capacity immediately.

MailerLite says account data is retained even when plan limits restrict usage. Forms and landing pages may remain visible and collect submissions while new contacts and sending are restricted, so a working form is not proof that welcome emails will run. Review your remaining allowance and list status before depending on scheduled messages. See https://www.mailerlite.com/help/free-plan-update-faq.

Upgrade when a real limit blocks a workflow that is already working

Do not pay only to hold unused capacity. A useful upgrade trigger is reaching more than 250 active subscribers, exceeding 2,500 sends in the current monthly cycle, or needing more active automations, forms or pages.

If the workflow is already generating useful leads or revenue, upgrading becomes a growth decision. If not, the Free plan remains enough to keep testing the message, signup experience and sequence.
