MailerLite vs Brevo in 2026: Which Email Platform Fits Your List?

MailerLite suits focused newsletters, signup forms and simple email workflows. Brevo adds transactional and multichannel customer communication while allowing a larger free contact database. Your send volume matters as much as your list size.

KEY TAKEAWAYMailerLite is built around straightforward email capture, newsletters and welcome workflows. Brevo combines marketing email with transactional and multichannel tools. Compare what really matters for your audience size.

MailerLite and Brevo solve overlapping but different problems

MailerLite connects newsletters, signup forms, landing pages, simple websites and welcome email workflows in a focused interface. It is appealing when a small publisher wants to capture subscribers and follow up without building a large collection of separate tools. Brevo covers marketing email too, but also emphasizes transactional messages and channels such as SMS as part of a broader customer-communication platform.

Start with the job rather than the feature count: are you building a modest newsletter and lead magnet, sending order confirmations alongside marketing campaigns, or managing messages across channels? The public plan details in this comparison were checked on October 9, 2026 and can change after that date.

Free plans: 250 active subscribers versus 100,000 stored contacts

MailerLite updated its Free plan on June 16, 2026. It now includes 250 active subscribers, 2,500 email sends in a 30-day period, three active automations, three forms, one landing page, a five-page website and one active digital product. Going beyond the subscriber or sending limit can pause campaigns or workflows until the account is back within limits or upgraded.

Brevo Free allows storage of up to 100,000 contacts while limiting sending to 300 emails per day, with unused daily capacity expiring rather than rolling over. Up to 2,000 unique contacts may enter active automations. Storing 100,000 contacts for free does not mean a single 100,000-recipient campaign can be delivered for free.

Model your real sending volume before picking a platform

Suppose you have 200 subscribers and send one newsletter each week. Four campaigns of 200 messages amount to roughly 800 monthly email sends. This fits MailerLite's 2,500-send Free allowance, provided welcome and other emails stay within the remaining quota. It also fits Brevo's daily ceiling if you distribute each campaign as planned; one 200-person send uses two thirds of that day's quota.

Now imagine a 1,000-contact audience receiving an occasional launch email. Brevo Free offers more room to store the contacts, but its 300-message daily cap prevents sending to all 1,000 on the same day. MailerLite Free cannot hold 1,000 active subscribers. Compare both audience size and send timing rather than declaring one Free tier universally larger.

For a 1,000-recipient marketing campaign on Brevo Free, only 300 recipients can receive the email on the scheduled day. Brevo requires you to use its Requeue option manually on subsequent days for the remaining 700. That takes at least four days (300 + 300 + 300 + 100) if other messages do not use the daily quota; marketing-campaign recipients are not automatically sent the next morning. Brevo's separate transactional-email retry queue should not be mistaken for automatic campaign delivery. Forms and landing pages: keep the subscriber journey simple

MailerLite packages signup forms, promotional popups, landing pages and a small website with the newsletter editor. That allows a solo creator to offer a downloadable resource, add new contacts to a group and start a short welcome workflow in one place. The Free limits of three forms and one landing page encourage a focused first test.

Brevo also offers signup forms and marketing tools, but its product scope extends to transactional delivery and additional communication channels. If you do not need SMS or more complex customer communications, time how long it takes to connect a signup source to a welcome message and a usable contact list in either platform.

Automation limits matter more than the number of buttons

MailerLite Free permits three active automations. A new project might use one for the welcome sequence, one for educational follow-up and one for an opt-in-related action. Test how confirmed subscribers enter the group, when the steps run and how the messages look on mobile before counting a workflow as ready.

Brevo Free supports marketing automation for up to 2,000 unique contacts entering workflows. Broader automation capacity is available on higher tiers, with Standard offering expanded access. Compare the number of people moving through your sequences and which events trigger those sequences, not just whether an automation editor is advertised.

Paid prices are only comparable at the same audience and usage

MailerLite advertises Comfort starting at $12 per month on its global pricing pages, with pricing influenced by subscriber tiers and billing choices. Brevo's French-language documentation advertises Starter starting at €7 per month and Standard at €17 per month; exact offers depend on sending volume and optional features.

These are starting prices in different currencies and configurations, not equivalent quotes. Use each official pricing calculator with your expected active subscribers, email volume and required features before deciding. A lower advertised entry number is not evidence of a lower cost for your particular operation.

Pick MailerLite for an editorial email funnel, Brevo for broader communications

MailerLite is an attractive starting point for a newsletter, lead magnet or short welcome sequence that uses a built-in signup form and landing page. For fewer than 250 active subscribers, the Free tier offers enough room to verify whether people actually subscribe and receive useful messages. Simplicity is the potential benefit, not a promise of higher deliverability or sales.

Brevo deserves closer attention when you need a large stored contact base, transactional emails, multichannel communication or more elaborate customer processes. Be aware that the 300-a-day Free sending cap can constrain campaign delivery even when contact storage looks generous. For frequent large sends, compare an appropriate paid tier directly.

Run the same practical 30-minute test on both products

Set up a small test list, create a signup form, draft a welcome email and check the real message on mobile and desktop. Confirm the sender, subject line, consent steps and destination links. Use contacts who have agreed to the test rather than uploading unrelated lists simply to make the dashboard look busy.

Record setup time, reporting clarity, the limits you would reach first and the quoted cost at the size you expect six months from now. Start with MailerLite Free when its focused workflow fits your next campaign; choose Brevo when its wider communication tools solve a real need. Either way, verify the full path before sending traffic or paying for extra capacity.
