Features and prices are based on public official sources, not a hands-on laboratory test. Verify current rights, limits and promotions before purchase.
The Free tier includes 10,000 monthly credits
The official public pricing page lists the Free plan at $0 per month with 10,000 credits. Included tools span speech generation, transcription, sound effects and other creative workflows.
This is a credit allowance, not a promise of a fixed number of finished minutes for every product and model. Always check the credits used by the exact tool you intend to work with.
One allowance covers several separate products
Credits are shared across ElevenLabs products. Generating speech, creating sound effects or testing other services can reduce the same available balance.
For a realistic budget, track the cost of revisions as well as the first generation. Small trial scripts reveal whether your usual workload fits into the account's monthly quota.
Unused Free credits do not roll over to next month
ElevenLabs renews its 10,000-credit Free allowance each billing cycle. Its pricing terms specify that unused Free credits do not roll over, unlike eligible paid plans that can carry some unused credits for up to two months. Do not budget a Free account by adding unspent credits from previous cycles.
For example, if you have 4,000 credits left at the end of a Free cycle, the next cycle does not begin with 14,000 credits. It begins with the newly allocated Free amount. Confirm your own cycle date and balance in the account rather than estimating from a calendar month.
Use a short script and track credits and corrections before upgrading.

Explore ElevenLabs free creditsFree access does not grant every commercial use right
Commercial licensing is listed among the Starter plan benefits, rather than Free. That distinction matters when a voiceover is intended for a paid advertisement, customer deliverable or monetized production.
Check the latest service terms before using any generated content commercially. When a recorded voice belongs to a real person, obtain the necessary permissions independently of your subscription level.
Publishing Free-generated audio requires attribution—and has limits
ElevenLabs says content generated on the Free plan does not carry a commercial license. If you share it noncommercially, the provider requires attribution in the title using 'elevenlabs.io' or '11.ai'. Eleven Music has a separate 'Eleven Music' attribution rule. Check the rules for the particular product and any beta features before you publish.
Attribution alone cannot turn a paid advertisement, client delivery or monetized release into permitted Free-plan use. Buying extra Pay As You Go credits on a Free account also does not automatically upgrade the underlying tier or unlock a Starter commercial license. Obtain permissions for any third-party voices and other protected material regardless of plan.
Starter and Creator cover different production needs
The current public monthly pricing lists Starter at $6 for 30,000 credits and Creator at $22 for 121,000 credits, excluding temporary first-month promotions and taxes. Professional Voice Cloning is among the Creator additions.
Pricing alone is not the full comparison. Check whether you need commercial rights, a specific cloning capability, sufficient audio quality or simply a bigger balance for routine narration.
Estimate a monthly quota using a real content sample
Pick a one- or two-minute script that resembles the content you actually publish. Try different voices with identical wording and track credits consumed during each revision.
Compare the final output and how much editing it required. If the account uses several audio tools in parallel, test a complete production session rather than one feature in isolation.
Upgrade only when an actual constraint appears
Consider a paid plan if commercial licensing is mandatory, you need a supported cloning capability or your monthly work consistently exceeds the available credits. Otherwise, a shorter trial can remain the sensible option.
Check prices and the credit calculator on the official pricing page before making a purchase. Promotions and product limits can change, so avoid planning long-term costs around a temporary discount.
