Systeme.io vs Payhip in 2026: Digital Store or Full Sales Funnel?
Payhip is unusually simple for creators who want a digital store with every feature available on every plan. Systeme.io is more compelling when acquisition, email nurture and automation are integral to each sale.
The differences that actually change the decision.

Payhip starts with the product while Systeme.io starts with the customer journey
Payhip is designed to let creators sell digital downloads, courses, coaching, memberships and physical products from a simple store. Its pricing model is intentionally straightforward and all features are available regardless of tier.
Systeme.io is more focused on what happens around the sale: capture a lead, nurture the contact, present an offer, take payment and automate delivery or follow-up. That broader journey is its main differentiator.
Payhip trades subscription cost against transaction fees
Payhip currently lists Free Forever at $0 per month plus a 5% Payhip transaction fee, Plus at $29 per month plus 2%, and Pro at $99 per month with no Payhip transaction fee. Stripe or PayPal processing fees still apply on every plan.
Systeme.io also has a $0 Free plan but currently advertises 0% platform transaction fees from the start. Its paid tiers are mainly about increasing contact, funnel and automation capacity rather than removing a sales commission.
Payhip is attractive when you want a simple digital-product storefront
All Payhip plans include unlimited products and unlimited revenue, making the free tier a low-friction way to publish downloads or courses without feature-gating. The trade-off is the 5% platform fee while you remain on Free.
Systeme.io makes more sense when the store is not the main experience and each product is sold through a structured acquisition or nurture path. The visitor is guided through a funnel rather than primarily browsing a catalog.
EU and UK digital VAT: check what Payhip actually handles
Payhip says its default settings automatically collect and remit eligible EU and UK VAT for digital products. The seller can turn those settings off; the feature should not be described as automatic tax handling for every product category, destination or business obligation. Payhip provides separate settings for other taxes. Official explanation: https://help.payhip.com/article/127-digital-eu-vat.
For a simplified sale taxed at 20%, a digital product with a $10 price before tax costs the customer $12 when VAT is added. If $10 is VAT-inclusive, its price before VAT is about $8.33 instead. Payhip's commission base and processor fees need to be checked against the actual order and tax settings rather than assumed to apply to the full tax-inclusive amount.
Systeme.io offers checkout and tax-related settings, but it does not advertise the same general automatic EU/UK digital VAT collection and remittance as Payhip. Sellers should verify local obligations and product scope before choosing a platform based solely on transaction fees.
Payhip's three plans: work out the break-even point before upgrading
At the October 18, 2026 listed monthly prices, Payhip Free charges 5% of eligible sales, Plus costs $29 plus 2%, and Pro costs $99 with no Payhip platform commission. At $1,000 in eligible monthly sales, illustrative Payhip-only costs are $50 on Free, $49 on Plus and $99 on Pro. At $4,000, the same calculation yields $200, $109 and $99 respectively. The numbers exclude payment-processor charges, taxes and refunds, and do not represent actual merchant earnings.
Free and Plus tie at approximately $966.67 in monthly eligible sales ($29 divided by 3 percentage points). Plus and Pro tie at $3,500 ($70 divided by 2 percentage points). These are simple subscription-and-platform-fee thresholds, not feature-equivalent quotes or a reason to change plans automatically. Verify the tax-adjusted chargeable amount and the published billing terms before deciding. Official pricing: https://payhip.com/pricing.
Systeme.io advertises a $0 Free plan with 0% additional platform transaction fees, but it applies limits to contacts, funnels and automation. Payhip lets you list unlimited products on every plan. Compare your actual marketing workflow and external payment costs, not a percentage in isolation. Source: https://systeme.io/pricing.
